Huntington Hospital Commission
A small carved stone sculpture by Henry Moore titled “Reclining Form” 1966, was selected from the collection at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. The entire sculpture was scanned using a hand held 3D scanning device from Art Center College of Design. “Separated United Forms” was developed by utilizing digital technologies that included a 3D body scanner, 3D modeling programs, and Rapid Prototyping processes. The forms were then reconstructed using 3D modeling programs in the computer. The two "ends” of the sculpture were separated from each other and then superimposed in order to generate two new hybrid forms recalling Henry Moore’s idea of the vital life force.
Art Concept approved by the Pasadena Art Commission 03/07
