The Selected Professionals are composed of stock images of professionals. The selected faces represent a diversity of professional individuals in a format that mimics retail advertising ubiquitous in mini malls and retail storefronts. The structure and politics of this kind of window graphic blocks the view into the store but allows one to look out onto the street from inside. This panoptic situation entails surveillance of the street, while being hidden from view by the facade. This commentary on late Capitalism and Neoliberalism refers to the corporatization of services that were at one point provided by social systems of the government, state, or federal. These services over the last few decades have been privatized and now owned by corporations. This has been used in gentrification and in a range of communities all over. The professionals are coming, or the image of professionals are coming.
